Significant Book on the Maya and the Sea |
The book accompanied a major museum exhibition displayed at PEM (Salem, MA) and the
Kimbell Art Museum (Fort Worth, TX) in 2010 followed by the
Saint Louis Art Museum (St. Louis, MO) in 2011. Contributors to the volume are a veritable who's who of contemporary Maya scholars. Pieces in the exhibit came from major museums in Europe and the Americas.
No place in the ancient Maya world was more than 260 kilometers (160 miles) from the open ocean.
